Jérôme Saurigny (Anjou, France) is a crazy natural winemaker who makes crazy natural wines🔥
His unique cuvée in 2016, « Sakurajima » is one of my favorite wine I’ve ever drink til now 🍷 🙌
Due to terrible spring frost that year, he had lost more than 80% of his grape, and because of too small harvest quantities he had decided to blend all the grape left, red or white.
He made this decision during his last trip in Japan in April 2017, in front of a very active volcano called Sa…kurajima (Kyushu), literally “Island of cherry blossoms”, where he felt, again, that humans are nothing in front of Mother Nature 🌬

But the result is a pure explosion of fresh fruits flavors and umami, a beautiful color of lava, amazingly high drinkable magma, and big tension and minerality from dark soil: definitively a 🌋wine!!
Furthermore the legend tells that Jérôme had brought some ash from Sakurajima and had mixed into the wine…
